Mary Theresa Young

Mary Theresa Young, 75, of Washougal, WA, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her two children, on Friday, Oct. 2, 2020. She was born July 7, 1945, in Fergus Falls, MN, to Francis and Lorraine Murray. She married Wayne Young on Nov. 27, 1965. Her husband precedes her in death.
Mary was a longtime resident of both Camas, WA, and Washougal where she lived since leaving her childhood home in Minnesota. She graduated from Camas High School in 1964 and was a medical receptionist for several years before devoting herself to the arts of homemaking which she excelled at. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and a devout Catholic all her life.
She loved to cook and was known for her exceptional baking skills, collected angel figurines and adored the many hummingbirds who flocked to her backyard, lured by the numerous feeders she kept filled for them. Rose gardening was another passion of hers. She was a kindhearted and generous woman who was loved by many. Mary is survived by her children, Todd Young (Catherine) and Monica Hagensen (Paul); and grandson, Eric Hagensen. Also surviving are two brothers, Dick Murray (Elaine) and Hank Murray (Terri) and numerous other relatives.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a viewing visitation for family only is from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 9, 2020 at Straub’s Funeral Home in Camas. The graveside funeral service observing the same family-only restrictions will follow at 1 p.m. at Camas Cemetery, in Camas.
