Lois Jemtegaard

Lois (Staack) Jemtegaard of Mount Pleasant, WA, passed away on May 6, 2020. She was born in Glenwood, WA to Alma and Perda Staack. She attended school in Glenwood, WA and Everett, WA, graduating from high school in White Salmon, WA in 1938.
Lois married Marvin Jemtegaard in 1938 and raised their family on the Mt. Pleasant farm, harvesting filberts, walnuts, lots of fruits and vegetables, while raising beef for most of 83 years.
Lois was a welder at the Kaiser Shipyards for WWII. She was a Girl Scout Leader for several years. (Even took a dozen scouts to Seattle World’s Fair and brought them all back!)
Lois was a charter member of the Washougal Historical Society, Camas-Washougal Wildlife League and local Rock Club. Lois and Marvin were Grand Marshals for the Skamania Co. Fair Parade in 1983. Lois was on Skamania Co. Planning Commission. She fought for citizens private property rights, before the Federal Government took over the Gorge. Lois served offices for her LaCamas, state and national Navy Mother Club, to help veterans and active military.
Mom was a very intelligent person, avid reader, crocheted, before losing much of her eyesight. She loved playing piano, singing, FAMILY, FRIENDS and FLOWERS.
Lois is survived by her daughters, Dicta Mills (Dean), Alma Ladd (Charles), Irene J. Anderson (Dean), Annette Sapienza (Clifford); son, Jack Jemtegaard (Judy); grandkids, Julie, Kevin, Tanda, Joshua, Todd, Shaun, Christopher, Angela, Nicholas, Anna, Jonas, Scott; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin; sons, Marvin, Larry; brother, Delmer; and grandson, Troy.
