Gary James Horton

1937 ~ 2023
Gary James Horton was born to J.R. Horton and Lily (Schneidereit) Horton in Winner, SD, 1937. He was 85 years old when he passed Jan. 4, 2023. He was loved and will be greatly missed.
Gary was raised in South Dakota then joined the Army. He was stationed in Fort Lewis, WA, then met and married LaVonne (Haag) Horton from Washougal, WA. Gary retired from Camas papermill. Gary & LaVonne enjoyed retirement as traveling snowbirds to Arizona every winter, and then back up to their property in Long Beach, WA, for the summers. He enjoyed time with family camping, fishing and riding with Goldwing and Christian motorcycle clubs. He also enjoyed watching the planes takeoff and land from airport off Marine Drive in Portland, OR.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Dean Horton, Janet Yekal and Micky Horton. Gary is survived by siblings, Ruthann Cummings, Roger Horton, and Barbara Craffee. Gary is also survived by wife, Lavonne Horton; children, Lisa (Ken) Bruley, Douglas Horton, Julie (Jim) Hendrickson, Clark (Quynh) Horton; grandchildren, Tory, Brianna, Kristin, Kayla, Bryant, River, Arya; and great-grandchildren, Isabelle, Piper, Milo and Edison.
