Beverly Jean Knapp

March 27, 1924 ~ July 21, 2019

Beverly Jean Knapp, “Beve”, to those who knew her best, passed away peacefully July 21, 2019 at the age of 95. Born in 1924 in Bloomfield, NE to Henry Ludwig and Bessie Mae (Baird Scott) Ziegler, Beve’s family moved to the Washougal, WA area in 1936.

She attended Washougal High School where she met and later married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Walter “Bud” Knapp. They celebrated 71 years of marriage in June 2017 before she lost him in November 2017.

After high school, Beve attended beauty school in Portland and upon graduation, worked as a beauty operator in Camas and then opened her own business in Washougal.

It was motherhood and homemaking that would prove to be Beve’s true calling. She became an accomplished homemaker, attending to her responsibilities as wife and mother with sincere engagement and energy; she was an equally enthusiastic and committed grandmother and great-grandmother.

Organized, efficient, and hard working; productive, wise, and resourceful; imaginative, curious, and adventuresome; kind, sympathetic, and proud: Beve was the consummate caregiver.

She is survived by her sister, Janice (Stanley) Murray; son, Steven; daughter, Shelley; granddaughters, Megan (Damon) LeBaron and Katie (Erik) Bjerkman; and 4 great-grandchildren, Libby and Avery LeBaron, and Blake and Anders Bjerkman.

Private services will be held. Details of a celebration of Beve’s life are pending. Straub’s Funeral Home handled her arrangements.
