Lorna Lee Fertello
~
Lorna Lee Fertello grew up in Camas, WA, and was raised in Oak Park (on the outskirts of Camas) by her mother, Dorothy Powell and Father, William Powell.
Lorna was married 44 years to Peter Joseph Fertello Jr., and together they had four children: Laurie Anne, Paul Joseph, John Lee, and Mark Allen. They lived in Port Angeles, WA, and neighboring communities to Portland, OR: Parkrose and Sunnyside. And then Newberg, OR.
She had an extraordinarily pure singing voice and played the piano beautifully. Her voice was described as “that of an angel”! She sang in choirs, quartets and trios and traveled with these groups to sing in churches, community concerts, regional choral events and ministry to prisoners.
Lorna served in ministry as Christian Education Director, teaching children about Jesus. She loved people of all ages and continually reached out to those in need.
She loved to garden and when she moved in 1990 to Warm Beach Camp in Stanwood, WA, to live with her daughter, she volunteered at the Camp, applying her love for gardening, and beautifying the campus for many years. She was even recognized as “Volunteer of the Year.”
Above all else, Lorna Loved the Lord! At a young age she committed her life to Jesus and strove to serve Him with all her heart. So many were blessed by her love, compassion, kindness, generosity, gifts, talents, and friendship.
Lorna once said her death would be like “going home “to be with Jesus and those who had gone before her: She is now “Home” with them in Heaven forever! And one day Mom, we will join you there with you!
Lorna is survived by her children, Laurie, Paul, Mark, and John; grandchildren, Kara and David, Melissa and Nathan, Lacey, and Matt; and 10 great-grandchildren.
