Rethinking student-rep selection process

Washougal High School leaders were supposed to begin the process of selecting the school’s student representatives to the Washougal School District board of directors for the 2020-21 school year in March 2020.

Washougal begins hybrid model; elementary students head back to class

As Washougal School District Superintendent Mary Templeton walked from the parking lot to the front entrance of Gause Elementary School shortly before 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 19, a small group of children lined up in front of a physical education teacher near the playground at the back of the building.

Teachers unions: safety is top concern

Teachers union leaders in Camas and Washougal say local educators’ reactions to recent news that both school district plan to bring many students back to the classroom soon after the winter break — despite the fact that Clark County COVID-19 infections remain on an upward trajectory — run the gamut, from apprehensive to exuberant.

Washougal greenlights school reopenings

Several dozen parents and students gathered in front of the Washougal School District office on Dec. 17 for an informal rally, waving signs in front of honking automobiles and calling for the district to reopen its buildings for in-person instruction.

Students say they’re struggling
