All-American Storm

The synergy between the athletes and coaches in the Evergreen Storm Track Club is creating All-Americans. "We're kind of like a family," said Rachel Blair, a 13-year-old from Camas. "We spend so much time running together."

Shielded from the howling wind with electricity still pumping through the gym, the Washougal High School boys basketball team held beat Fort Vancouver 41-37 Thursday in a battle of two boys basketball teams who were 5-0.

The Washington State and Nike Cross Northwest Regional championship runners from Camas traversed a soggy Glendoveer Golf Course with the best in the nation Saturday.

Staying home to play tennis

Clark and Caryn Vitek spent the past 22 Thanksgiving vacations playing tennis in Palm Springs, Calif. This year, they had a good reason to stay home. Oh sure, they still played tennis. But this time, it was in their new four court 27,000-square foot translucent covered facility in Camas. Evergreen Tennis, located at 5225 N.W. 38th Avenue, offers free play Saturday and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. In December, the facility will be open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Hours will expand in the new year with increasing membership growth. If the need becomes great enough, there are plans to build two more indoor courts on site.
