Eli Tomac, the season’s hottest professional motocross rider, pulled off a thrilling come-from-behind victory last weekend, winning the 450 Washougal National title at Washougal MX Park on Saturday, July 28.

Baseball fans flock to historic Louis Bloch Park in Camas

While the rest of Camas-Washougal geared up for last weekend’s Camas Days celebration and national motocross races at the Washougal MX Park, 10 Babe Ruth all-star teams and their families, some coming from as far away as Calgary in Alberta, Canada, descended on Camas’ historic Louis Bloch Park to prepare for the Pacific Northwest Babe Ruth Regional Tournament.

Fourth of July fundraiser brings out the community

On a holiday when many people feast and celebrate at festive barbecue gatherings, several hundred folks in Camas and Washougal chose to launch into the Fourth of July by burning some serious calories during the third annual Heroes’ Challenge, at Capt. William Clark Regional Park, in Washougal.

Babe Ruth All-Stars prepare for state

One year after winning the state tournament and punching a ticket to the Babe Ruth World Series in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, a new group of local 13- to 15-year-old all stars is preparing for another run.

Camas Little League 10U All-Stars celebrate after winning the District IV Championship on June 29.  The team will play for the state title in Lynwood, Wash. The state tournament begins Saturday, July 7.

Camas 10U All-Stars win district championship

The Camas Little League 10U All-Star baseball team, which is made up of the top players ages 8-10 years old in the league, defeated Fort Vancouver on Fort Vancouver’s own field on Friday, June 29 to win the District IV Championship. The Camas All-Stars started the double elimination tournament on June 23 with convincing wins over Cascade, East County and Fort Vancouver, before losing a close contest to the Fort Vancouver All-Stars on June 28. It set up the title game between the same two teams.

Hidden Hiking Treasures

Popular hiking trails on the Washington side of the Columbia River Gorge are being flooded with hikers hopping the river because so many Oregon trails are closed following last year’s devastating Eagle Creek Fire. Employees at Beacon Rock State Park have reported an unprecedented 40-percent increase in hikers from May 2017 to May 2018. Conservation and hiking groups are now urging hikers to spread their wings and discover new trails.
