The Camas High volleyball team, a young crew mostly led by sophomores and juniors, held strong Nov. 3, during a marathon, five-set match, to clinch a spot in the 4A state tournament.
All season, Amelia Pullen’s cross country teammates have repeatedly told anyone who asks that no one works harder in practice or in competition than the Washougal High senior.
All the long miles and intense training is now paying dividends for the top ranked cross-country runners from Camas as the boys and the girls pulled off a clean sweep at the bi-district meet at Chambers Bay Golf Course, Saturday, Oct. 27.
Playing in a heavy downpour at Doc Harris Stadium on Oct. 23, the Camas High girls soccer team sloshed their way to a 7-0 shutout against league rival Union High.
The Camas High slowpitch softball team took the district title Oct. 17, with an 8-7 come-from-behind victory over R.A. Long.
Success has not been easy for the Camas High Papermakers football team this season, due to a slew of injuries and three heartbreaking losses, but the team rallied last week, beating the Skyview Storm 48-35, for a dramatic homecoming victory under starry sky, Friday, Oct. 19.
The bond between horse and rider is sometimes a hard thing for equestrians to explain, but 13 Camas High School girls are now experiencing that special bond — a few for the first time — as the Camas Equestrian Team trains for the upcoming season.
Performing under pressure is something Camas High sophomore golfer Owen Huntington works on year round. After struggling a bit in his final round at districts, held Oct. 9, at Tri-Mountain Golf Course in Ridgefield, he rallied in the final holes to force a playoff with senior Anthony Tobias from Battle Ground for the title of 4A Greater St. Helens League district champion.
