Papermakers defeat top-ranked Lions

With two minutes left in a Dec. 11 game against the Camas Papermakers, the West Linn Lions girls basketball team — Oregon’s top-ranked 6A team — took a five-point lead and appeared to be in control of the young Papermaker squad.

Washougal aiming for excellence

The wrestling room at Washougal High School has a lot of hardware hanging on the wall, from a long list of state champions. It’s something athletes take great pride in and this year’s team plans to bring more postseason hardware back to the Washougal Panther practice den.

Panther girls setting high expectations

When you enter the front doors at Washougal High School, you see cases filled with a variety of gold trophies calling out the achievements of the school’s many athletic teams. The one exception seems to be basketball. And that’s something the Washougal girls basketball team plans to change this year.

Panthers defeat Plainsmen 61-20

The 2A Washougal girls basketball team kicked off the season against the 3A Evergreen High Plainsmen with a 61-20 shellacking in the Evergreen Fieldhouse on Monday, Nov. 26.
