Chloe Connors loves to express herself through art and music. So when the 13-year-old learned that members of the Jemtegaard Middle School choir would have to pay for new folders, she took action. "I really enjoy choir and wanted to help out," Chloe said.

Students sell and buy items during Ancient Market Day, a lively event at Liberty Middle School. The purpose is to give them a hands-on experience in trade and economics.

A ‘fun’ lesson in economics

Excited, boisterous voices filled the air as potential buyers haggled with sellers during Ancient Market Day at Liberty Middle School. Blankets, filled with handmade goods ranging from perfume to pottery, took up every inch of available ground space. Sellers, eager to earn money for their goods, encouraged potential buyers to have a look.

WSU Vancouver hosting financial aid and scholarship workshops

Students can learn how to pay for college at Washington State University Vancouver's, "A - Z of Financial Aid and Scholarships" workshop, offered multiple times through the spring and summer. Free and open to the public, this workshop is considered by organizers as a jumping-off point for all college-bound students no matter what their age, current financial situation or school they plan to attend.

Camas students are all smiles after faring well at their first-ever robotics "dragster" invitational at the South Sound STEM Robotics Invite in Olympia.

Camas fares well at robotics contest

The mission: Design, build and program a robot "dragster" to race down a narrow lane and accurately stop when it "sees" the finish line. That is the challenge which students at Camas High, Hayes Freedom High and Liberty Middle schools accepted.

They’re exploring the creative side

Gause Elementary School students have enjoyed the chance to explore their creative side, thanks to the school's Artist in Residence program. The program, sponsored by the school Boosters, connects kids with visiting artists, who demonostrate their specific genre, be it oils, pastels or charcoal pencils.
