Local students excel in essay competitions

Local students were recently recognized for their writings about patriotism and the contributions of veterans on Sunday, Jan. 22 at the Camas Community Center.

Camas High School student Megan Baffaro is collecting donations of pajamas, slippers, coloring books and colored pencils for a Mexican orphanage, as part of  her senior project. Behind her are slips of paper and a photo of a child. Students can take the paper and then donate the requested items.

Juliet Collins created cards and ornaments to buy Christmas presents for children in need. The items were then donated to the Salvation Army in Washougal.
