Washougal School Board promises transparency after criticism

Washougal School Board members will attempt to provide more transparency during their meetings after being criticized for not publicly asking more questions of Washougal School District staff before making critical decisions, according to Washougal School Board President Angela Hancock.

Washougal students launch campaign to educate about underage substance abuse

Washougal High School sophomore Angel Garibay-Villa asked Washougal City Council members during their April 22 Council meeting to guess how many Washougal High students use vaping products. After a few seconds of deliberating, Washougal Mayor David Stuebe ventured a guess: “30 percent? I hope not.”

‘Stride Run’ grants promote reading in Washougal schools

For the past several months, Washougal School District (WSD) elementary school students have been “reading around” their libraries thanks to a new program that encourages them to discover new literary genres and write book reviews.
