High school students with and without disabilities are invited to join others from the area for an evening of dancing and refreshments at the Firstenburg Community Center, 700 N.E. 136th Ave., Vancouver.
Camas Knowledge Bowl participants have won the state championship two years running. The last weekend in March, the Papermakers traveled to Richland, Wash. to compete in the 3A state tournament. "This group of six seniors did a fantastic job, as they successfully defended their title," coach Dale Croswell said.
Last month, 26 Camas High School Key Club members attended their district convention in Seattle along with about 1,500 others from across the Pacific Northwest. There are about 350 Key Clubs in the district, which runs from Alaska to northern California.

A local robotics team will be testing its mettle at the world championships next month. Team Mean Machine, consisting of students from Washougal, Camas, Hayes Freedom and Hockinson high schools won the regional championships in Seattle recently. They played nine matches, competing against 50 other teams from across the United States and Turkey. "We won eight of our nine matches and were never ranked less than first place," club advisor and mentor Briana Abraham said. "Team Mean Machine dominated the competition in Seattle. Then, throughout quarter, semi and finals we held strong to become regional champions."
Registration for children entering kindergarten at Cape Horn-Skye, Gause, and Hathaway elementary schools for the 2011-2012 school year will be held Monday, May 2 to Friday, May 6, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the school where the child will attend. Children entering kindergarten must be 5 years old on or before Aug. 31.
