Buzzing about bees

Six years ago, after spending the majority of her life avoiding bees like they were the plague, Susan McElroy-Knilans found herself rooted in front of a bee hive with about 20 other people who had enrolled in a biodynamic beekeeping class.

Gracie Gundlach and Sitara Shankar are eighth grade students at Liberty Middle School who are working together to create an orchestra program in Camas. The two became best friends by participating in the Rose City Youth Orchestra in Portland and would like to bring their connection to orchestra to their school.

Italian inspiration

When Maria Grazia Repetto moved from her native Italy to the Pacific Northwest in 1995, she immediately fell in love with eastern Washington’s cowboy-country charm and Seattle’s moody, rain-soaked landscapes.
