Amanda Prince, of Washougal, spends time with Jerzey, a shelter dog at the West Columbia Gorge Humane Society (WCGHS) in Washougal. Prince is a foster volunteer who provides a temporary home for dogs until they are adopted. Jerzey was adopted on Feb. 4.

Pets in need of a temporary home are finding shelter with a few local families in a process known as “fostering.”
