Steigerwald project had ‘productive year’

2020 has been a big year for the massive Steigerwald Reconnection Project happening at the national Steigerwald Lake wildlife refuge located on the edge of Washougal.

Champ Camp hosts ball giveway this weekend

When Jess Moore opened Champ Camp Fitness and Training in Washougal in July, he hoped that the facility would become a “community development project,” providing opportunities to low-income youth through scholarship programs, holding fundraisers, sponsoring community events and establishing close working relationships with Washougal High School athletes.

Camas, Washougal swing into holiday mode

The holiday season may look a little different this year during the COVID-19 pandemic, with the cancellation of events like Camas’ traditional Hometown Holidays and Washougal’s Lighted Christmas Parade, but there are still plenty of season’s greetings to be found in the cities’ downtown shopping districts.

Angela Ridgway remembers push to grow Washougal art scene

After moving from California to Washougal in 2014, metal artist Angela Ridgway quickly settled into the Clark County arts community, opening a studio in downtown Vancouver and joining the Washougal Arts and Culture Alliance (WACA), helping the nonprofit organization to put on its annual Washougal Art Festival.

Washougal MX Park hosts ‘Holidays in the Hills’

Even though Ryan Huffman describes himself as more of a “dirt guy” who’d rather move things around with equipment than create them, he’s relished the opportunity to use his imagination while putting together a holiday lights tour at Washougal Motocross Park. He will, for example, point out the fact that he was the one who came up with the idea for one of the tour’s signature displays, a “Grinch” knocking over a tree with a bulldozer.
