County denies mining company’s road proposal near ‘Washougal Pit’

The Clark County Council has unanimously approved a recommendation to deny a proposal from a Ridgefield-based mining company to redesignate a private residential road in rural Washougal as a public thoroughfare, delivering another blow to the company’s long-standing hopes of resuming mining activity in the area.

Camas Council approves park impact fee overhaul

The Camas City Council this week approved updates to the City’s park impact fees that will charge developers more for larger homes and create new categories for accessory dwelling units (ADUs) and commercial-industrial developments.

Primary Election: Camas-Washougal voters support fire station bonds, ECFR levy lid lift

Camas-Washougal area voters showed strong support in the Aug. 6 primary election for three fire department measures that will build two new fire stations in Camas and Washougal — including a Camas-Washougal Fire Department (CWFD) headquarters station in downtown Camas — and temporarily increase the East County Fire and Rescue (ECFR) District’s levy rate to help ECFR, which serves rural areas north of Camas-Washougal, staff its two fire stations.
