Cities agree to extend fire agreement

Camas and Washougal city officials this week agreed to extend the decade-long interlocal agreement that merged the two cities’ fire departments into the joint Camas-Washougal Fire Department (CWFD) in 2013, and to place a regional fire authority proposal before local voters in 2025.

Skyridge Middle School staff survey classrooms for water damage Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2024. A winter storm that hit the Camas-Washougal area over the three-day Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday weekend, Jan. 13-15, 2024, caused two pipes to freeze and burst inside the Camas middle school, impacting 22 classrooms and the library. Camas School District leaders said this week that the storm-related damage will cost at least $250,000 to repair.

Camas schools damaged during winter storms

Camas schools suffered at least $250,000 worth of damage during last week’s winter storms that blanketed the region in snow and ice over the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday weekend, Jan. 13-15, and again on Tuesday, Jan. 16.

Local musicians prepare for annual ‘benefit bash’

Angela Bunda decided to step back from her music career in 2015 after the birth of her first child. But since then, the 1999 Washougal High School graduate has been able to maintain a connection to her passion for music thanks to her involvement with The Bitchins, a Portland-based rock/horn band that performs just once per year to raise funds for people affected by a disease that afflicts one of its members.
