Two women with deep Camas roots and a 50-year friendship have opened a gallery and fine art store in downtown Camas. Sharon Ballard has experience as an interior designer and artist, while Marquita Call has worked in business management and customer service.

High-speed broadband expansion underway

Construction is underway on a major expansion of broadband fiber that will connect the unserved Washougal and Wind River areas with high-speed Internet service. Northwest Open Access Network is starting construction on two projects that will bring high-speed Internet access to schools, hospitals, emergency response agencies and libraries across the Columbia River Gorge. The projects will lay the ground work for bringing broadband service to thousands of businesses and households. Construction crews are at work laying more than 50 miles of high speed fiber in Skamania County during the next three months. The new broadband Internet service will be available soon after construction is completed this fall.

Fisher building is named a ‘Top Project’

A five-story building in Northwest Camas is among the "Top Projects," in the Clark County area. The Fisher Investments structure at 5525 N.W. Fisher Creek Drive will be occupied this fall. The first four floors will be filled by the 325 workers from Fisher Investments' satellite office in Vancouver. It is the first of two planned buildings in the $30 million office complex project.

Laborers Local 335 re-elect Washougal resident

Dave Ritchey, a lifelong Washougal resident, was re-elected as business manager/secretary-treasurer of Vancouver-based Laborers Local 335 in an election held June 3.
