Columbia Ridge hosts luau

Columbia Ridge Senior Living will host its annual Hawaiian luau Saturday, Aug. 16, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Dianna Kretzschmar plays the piano at Prestige Care and Rehabilitation, in Camas, and other locations throughout Clark County. She is the director of admissions and marketing at Prestige. The facility provides rehabilitation and nursing care after a stay in the hospital for a stroke, recovery from a surgery, after an illness or for management of a chronic disease.

Providing hometown care

A local woman who performed at a senior center in Forest Grove, Ore., as a teenager, is the director of admissions and marketing at Prestige Care and Rehabilitation, in Camas. When Dianna Kretzschmar was 16, she received a Rotary Club scholarship for her service project of playing a piano at the senior center dances. The other band members were older than 70.

Crossroads Festival postponed to next year

The organizers of the Crossroads Gathering Festival are looking forward to 2015, after deciding not to hold the event this year. One of the event's planners, Jeff Guard, said the fundraising campaign needed to start earlier than it had, and there were some logistical issues.

Port of Camas-Washougal Commissioners and some staff members will meet for several hours during a planning retreat.

Halibut, caviar, chanterelle mushrooms and truffle oil are among the items shipped from Building 15, in the Steigerwald Commerce Center, to restaurants throughout the U.S. The Port of Camas-Washougal and Foods in Season will be among the honorees at a "Top Projects" reception Wednesday.

Local buildings are among ‘Top Projects’

The first building in the Steigerwald Commerce Center is on the list of "Top Projects" of Southwest Washington, named by the Vancouver Business Journal. The 21,600 square foot structure, at 4125 S. Lincoln St., Washougal, has housed Foods in Season -- a distributor of seafood, caviar, specialty meats, mushrooms and truffles -- since April. Team Construction, LLC, of Vancouver, was the general contractor for the $2.167 million project.
