A wrong-way driver hit another car head-on Monday night on state Highway 14 in Camas, killing one person and injuring two others, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Erik Moya, 23, of Vancouver, was traveling east in the westbound lanes about 11 p.m. in a 2013 Mercedes C250 when he struck a 1990 Buick LeSabre head-on, according to the State Patrol.
Moya was taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center in Vancouver with injuries, the State Patrol said.
The driver of the other vehicle — Michael O’Brien, 18, of Portland — died at the scene. Two passengers in the Buick — Jack G. Craig, 18, also of Portland; and an unidentified 17-year-old boy — were also taken to PeaceHealth for treatment, according to the State Patrol. All three individuals were wearing seat belts.
Moya, who also was wearing a seat belt, is facing allegations of vehicular homicide and vehicular assault. Drugs or alcohol were involved in the collision, according to the State Patrol.
He was booked into the Clark County Jail. The jail roster shows he was scheduled to make a first appearance on the allegations today in Clark County Superior Court.
The westbound lanes and one eastbound lane of the highway were closed for hours for the crash response.
The investigation is ongoing.
