Camas High DECA club plans ‘All Paws on Deck’

The Camas High School DECA club will present its Sixth annual All Paws on Deck event in downtown Camas, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21.

The annual event, which raises funds for the West Columbia Gorge Humane Society, will feature a street fair, doggie obstacle course, pet contests, vendors, refreshments and the coronation of Camas’ next “dog mayor.”

DECA students hope to raise $15,000 at this year’s event – $2,000 more than the $13,000 the group raised for the local Humane Society animal shelter in Washougal during its 2023 All Paws on Deck.

Applications to nominate a dog to be the 2024 dog mayor of Camas opened in mid-August and will close at noon, Friday, Sept. 6. The top 10 finalists will be notified by Sept. 12 and votes will be collected in the form of donations. Voting for the 2024 dog mayor will take place online Sept. 15-20, and the new dog mayor will be crowned during the Sept. 21 event.
