The city of Camas will host its Our Camas 2045 Community Summit next week to review the draft vision statement for the “Our Camas 2045” project that will guide the City’s growth and development over the next 20 years.

The public is invited to attend the event from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, at the Lacamas Lake Lodge, 227 N.E. Lake Road, Camas.

“We want to hear your ideas for the opportunities and long-term needs of the city, ranging from future growth to parks and trails, transportation and natural amenities,” the city of Camas stated on its Engage Camas website.

“Our Camas 2045” is a community planning project that will help shape the future of Camas over the next two decades.

The City is currently involved in updating its comprehensive plan, which dictates land-use and development in Camas, and includes a comprehensive plan map showing how the city of Camas is expected to, as the City stated on Engage Camas, “grow and change over the next 20 years to accommodate population and job growth, while remaining consistent with the community’s vision.”

The City also is undertaking a subarea planning project in Camas’ historic downtown — known as “Our Downtown Camas 2045” — which will guide development and growth in downtown Camas over the next two decades.

The City will unveil its draft vision statement for Our Camas 2045 during the June 12 event, and will share more information with the public during summertime events in downtown Camas, including the weekly Camas Farmer’s Market, the Downtown Camas Association’s First Friday events and the 2024 Camas Days celebration.
