Red Kettle Kickoff starts season of giving in Camas-Washougal

The competition pitted teams from Camas and Washougal and featured high school football players and staff members, as well as city council members Tim Hein from Camas and David Stuebe from Washougal, who attempted to throw or kick footballs into a giant red kettle, with points awarded depending on how close the kick or throw came to the pot. The Camas-Washougal Salvation Army created the inaugural event to raise awareness for its holiday fundraising campaign. The local Salvation Army chapter also hopes to win a regional contest, which awards prizes to the Salvation Army chapters that have the largest increase of volunteer hours over the previous year.
