A Clark County Sheriff’s deputy who lost a leg in a vehicle accident in Skamania County earlier this year has returned to work.
On Feb. 22, a large, snow-laden tree fell onto a section of Washougal River Road near Salmon Falls Road and hit the patrol car of deputy Drew Kennison.
“Kennison was pinned inside the vehicle for a significant amount of time,” a news release states. “The exceptional response by his fellow SWAT team members traveling with him and other emergency responders saved his life, but the accident resulted in his left leg being amputated.”
Kennison was determined to return to work “from the beginning,” according to the news release.
“He would accept nothing less than a full return to duty,” it states. “After months of rehab and hard work, his tenacity and grit are paying off.”
