The city of Camas is seeking police chief applicants through Nov. 11.
The city’s longtime police chief, Mitch Lackey, announced earlier this year that he plans to retire in February 2023.

The city’s outreach for a new police chief states Camas is seeking “a collaborative and team-oriented police chief with a customer service mindset … (who has) excellent presentation and public speaking skills and listens attentively to the community and staff.”

“An intuitive, confident, and proactive candidate will be successful,” the city stated on its website. “The ideal candidate has outstanding communication skills as well as proven knowledge and expertise in all issues relating to law enforcement.”

Bob Murray and Associates, a recruiting firm out of California, is leading the city’s recruitment process.

An advertisement for the police chief position states that the city’s current salary range of $132,000 to $158,000 per year is being reviewed by the city council.
