The Washougal School District is celebrating National School Lunch Week (NSLW) from Monday, Oct., 10, to Friday, Oct. 14.
NSLW highlights the importance of a healthy school lunch to students’ success both in and out of the classroom, according to a news release.
Throughout the week, Washougal School District superintendent Mary Templeton and school principals will join cafeteria staff members to help serve meals to students.
“Every day, the nutritious and delicious meals served at Washougal School District bring students together at the cafeteria tables,” Templeton said in the news release. “I’ll be serving lunch alongside our culinary team this National School Lunch Week to celebrate the importance of connecting over a wholesome meal.”
“There’s something so valuable about working side-by-side with the culinary team,” Gause Elementary School Tami Culp added. “Our culinary team is fantastic. They not only help meet the nutritional needs of students. They’re also collaborative and great with kids.”
