The Camas gymnastics team fell just short in its quest for a “four-peat.”
The three-time defending 4A state champions finished second at the 4A state gymnastics meet, held Saturday, Feb. 26, at Sammamish High School in Bellevue, Washington.
The Papermakers scored 171.975 points, finishing behind only Woodinville (178.075) in the team standings.
Papermakers senior Peyton Cody placed fourth in the all-around with a score of 35.900 and sophomore Hallie Kempf placed fifth at 34.475.
Cody placed third on the bars (9.225), tied for seventh on vault (9.150), finished 18th on beam (8.675) and took 35th place in the floor exercise (8.850).
Kempf tied for fifth in the floor exercise (9.350), placed seventh on bars (8.950), finished 14th in the beam (8.725) and took 25th place in the vault (8.450).
Other participating Camas gymnasts included Olivia Bane (bars, 8.50, 11th; floor, 9.000, 25th; vault, 6.900, 49th), Cyenna McCusker (bars, 8.150, 14th; beam, 8.625, 19th; floor, 9.200, 12th; vault, 7.375, 47th), Cate Neill (bars, 7.850, 20th; beam, 8.775, 13th), Allie Hubbard (beam, 8.025, 33rd), Kennedy Cody (beam, 7.525, 44th; floor, 9.125, 17th; vault, 8.175, 37th), Ella Allum (floor, 8.650, 43rd) and Lizzie Cerotsky (vault, 7.800, 44th).
In the 1A/2A/3A state meet, held on Friday, Feb. 25, at Sammamish High School, Washougal’s Reese LeVanskey posted a score of 5.850 on bars to finish in 81st place and a 6.350 in the floor exercise for 88th place.
