Unicorns and rainbows is the theme of this month’s First Friday celebration in downtown Camas.
Hosted by the Downtown Camas Association, the monthly event kicks off at 5 p.m. Friday, June 3, throughout the city’s historic downtown, and will feature family friendly unicorn- and rainbow-themed games and crafts, a “unicorns and rainbows sticker scavenger hunt,” after-hours shopping, live music, art shows and a 5 p.m. ribbon-cutting for Naturally Healthy Pet’s new location at 317 N.E. Cedar St., Camas.
Visitors to the First Friday celebration can have their picture taken with a unicorn from 6 to 7 p.m. near Journey Church, 304 N.E. Fourth Ave.; participate in a free unicorn-themed craft for children with Girl Scout Troop No. 47503 from 5 to 8 p.m. at LiveWell Camas, 417 N.E. Birch St.; hear The Departures play at 7 p.m. at A Beer at a Time, 216 N.E. Third Ave., and Matt Brown perform at 8 p.m. at Birch Street Uptown Lounge, 311 N.E. Birch St.; and attend art receptions at Attic Gallery, 421 N.E. Cedar St. and at Camas Gallery, 408 N.E. Fourth Ave.
Those who dress in unicorn or rainbow attire will have extra chances to win prizes from participating downtown Camas merchants.
“Last year was our first ‘Unicorns and Rainbows Sticker Scavenger Hunt,’ and people loved it,” DCA Director Carrie Schulstad stated in a news release about the June First Friday event. “It’s a great way to explore our downtown shops and have fun with your family and friends. We’re so very happy to also get to celebrate with Naturally Healthy Pet and cheer them in their new location. We encourage everyone to dress up in the theme and come on down and support our downtown small businesses.”
