A 65-year-old woman was struck and killed by a BNSF freight train in Washougal on July 21.
Camas and Washougal police, as well as the Camas-Washougal Fire Department, responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a train at the railroad crossing on Southeast Lechner Street at 4:16 a.m. Thursday, July 21, and discovered the pedestrian, who has not yet been identified, had been struck and killed.
No one on the train was injured in the collision.
Police said the investigation is ongoing but “it appears that all of the implemented safety equipment near the tracks was fnctioning at the time of the collision.”
