Camas Parks and Recreation is now accepting entries for poster designs to help promote the city’s policy prohibiting smoking and tobacco use within Camas parks.

The city is currently developing signage to be placed around the Camas’ parks, trails and open space, and would like to invite the community’s elementary and middle-school students to take part in helping design the artwork that will be incorporated into the signage.

Entries must be turned in by 5 p.m. Feb. 16.

The artwork must be designed in color on 8.5-by-11-inch, white paper, using colored crayons, pens, markers or paint. There should be no words in the art piece, and art designs should be drawn to illustrate “How I Play in Our Parks” or “What I do for Fun in Our Parks.” Artwork will not be returned and will become the property of the city of Camas.

The city will choose three to five designs to be incorporated into the new park signs. Winners will receive a framed award of their artwork incorporated into the park sign. Names of the artists will not be displayed on the signs, due to privacy issues, but will be included in promotional material.
