Washougal School District Superintendent Mary Templeton has again been selected as one of the top finalists for a superintendent position at a Seattle-area school district.
The Kent School District, located about 20 miles south of Seattle, recently announced its top three superintendent contenders – Templeton, along with Keisha Scarlett, the assistant superintendent of academics for Seattle Public Schools, and Israel Vela, the Kent School District’s interim superintendent.
According to the Kent Reporter, the school board is expected to make a final hiring decision by the end of this month.
In mid-March, the Issaquah School District – another Seattle-area district – named Templeton as one of its top three superintendent finalists, but eventually gave the job to another candidate.
Templeton, a longtime educator and school administrator who worked for four years as a human resources director at the Spokane Public Schools district before replacing former Washougal schools superintendent Michael Stromme in July 2018, told The Post-Record in March that she remains committed to her responsibilities in Washougal, but is actively seeking a position closer to her family in northwest Washington.
This is a developing story. For more information, pick up a copy of The Post-Record on Thursday, April 14, or visit camaspostrecord.com for the latest updates.
