Share, a Vancouver-based nonprofit organization, will provide free food to people 18 and younger at the Washougal Community Library this summer.
The “grab and go” meals will be available from noon to 1 p.m. every weekday from Monday, June 28, to Friday, Aug. 13, as part of Share’s “Summer Meals” campaign, a federally funded, state-administered program that reimburses providers who serve free meals to children when school is not in session.
“Food is incredibly important for a developing child or teen, and yet over 20,000 children in Clark County are considered food insecure, meaning they do not know when or where their next meal is coming,” Becci Read-Ryan, Share’s hunger and nutrition programs manager, said in a news release. “Share has partnered with Evergreen Public Schools, Vancouver Public Schools, as well as multiple faith-based communities and local apartment complexes. We are extremely grateful for their participation and commitment to helping feed children in our community.”
