COVID-19: Camas-Washougal area closures and cancellations

The Post-Record will run an updated list of all closures, cancellations and postponements related to the COVID-19 pandemic online at camaspostrecord.com. We will update this list as more announcements come in. CAMAS

CLOSED: 

• Camas Public Library is closed until further notice
• Indoor programs through Camas Parks & Recreation are closed until further notice
• East County Fire and Rescue: ECFR board started meeting virtually and will be looking into streaming services for the public.
• Attic Gallery is closed for normal business. They are open by appointment only. Visit the website at atticgallery.com.
• All city of Camas parks facilities such as playgrounds, sports fields and restrooms (except restrooms at Heritage Park, which opened May 5) are closed until further notice. Open green spaces and trails at Camas-run parks remain open.

CANCELED: 

• All city board and commission meetings (except Camas City Council workshops and meetings) are canceled through May. 
• Meeting room reservations for any city of Camas facility are not being accepted through the month of May. Those who have already scheduled events are strongly encouraged to reschedule their events for a later date. Reservation fees and payments will be refunded, if applicable. 
• Camas Parks & Recreation is cancelling the annual Camtown Youth Festival at Crown Park in Camas on Saturday, June 6.
• Camas Plant & Garden Fair scheduled for Saturday, May 9, has been canceled.

WASHOUGAL

CLOSED: 

• The Two Rivers Heritage Museum has closed indefinitely.
• West Columbia Gorge Humane Society: The shelter has closed to the public but staff will still be on duty and available by phone or email. The shelter will not accept non-emergency owner surrenders at this time, but is offering re-homing assistance by posting available pets through the shelter and on Petfinder.com. For more information on this, email adoptions@wcghs.org.
• City of Washougal has closed the following parks through Phase III of the governor’s four-phase state reopening plan to ensure the safety of citizens and limit the spread of COVID-19:
  • Sandy Swimming Hole Park
  • Steamboat Landing Dock
  • Hathaway Pickleball Courts (NOTE: Lower Hathaway Park has reopened for riverside recreating, but pickleball courts remain closed)
  • And all playgrounds, sports courts/fields and picnic shelters

OTHER:

• West Columbia Gorge Humane Society: Pet adoptions will resume by appointment only. People interested in adopting a pet should fill out an adoption application on the shelter website and be prepared to wait 24 hours for staff to call and set up an appointment. VANCOUVER       

CLOSED: 

• Fort Vancouver National Historic Site: The visitor center, Pearson Air Museum, reconstructed fort, Barclay House at the McLoughlin House Unit are closed until further notice. The outdoor grounds and trails of the park will remain open, but visitors are encouraged to do their part when visiting the park and to follow Centers for Disease Control guidance to prevent the spread of infectious diseases by maintaining a safe distance between people. • Vancouver Navigation Center: In consultation with and guidance from Clark County Public Health and Community Services, the city has closed the Navigation Center at 2018 Grand Blvd. until further notice. For more information, visit cityofvancouver.us/navigationcenter. 
• City of Vancouver Community Gardens were closed through April, but reopened Tuesday, May 5, in alignment with civil emergency order 2020-12. Plots have been reconfigured and aisles widened to provide adequate space to safely practice physical distancing. Read the new Community Garden safety guidelines. Staff capacity has been significantly impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak. Due to these impacts, Vancouver Parks and Recreation is not able to register new gardeners this season.
• City of Vancouver Parks and Sports Courts:
• Firstenburg and Marshall community centers are closed through May 31. Classes, programs, leagues and events are canceled or postponed through May 31.
  • Decisions regarding rescheduling will be shared as information becomes available.
  • Registered participants whose activities occur during the closure may cancel and receive a full refund.
• • Summer youth recreation activities are being explored. Registration information will be made available when safe operating procedures are confirmed.
  • Parks and Recreation will work to credit ongoing pass holders for the period of time the centers are closed. See next section for credit and refund information.
  • Private facility rentals are canceled through June 30. For rental questions or to reschedule your event for a later date, please email rentals@cityofvancouver.us.
  • Luepke Center is closed through May 31 and all programs and events are canceled.
    • Meals on Wheels People has discontinued congregate meal service until further notice and to-go meals is no longer available in the Luepke Center lobby. To inquire about meal delivery, please call 503-736-6325.

CANCELED:

• NW LARGEST Garage Sale & Vintage Sale spring sale has been canceled. Vendors who have signed up for the spring sale may sign up for either the July 18 or Nov. 7 sale. For more information, visit nwsales.com.
• The Master Gardeners Mother’s Day Weekend plant sale scheduled for May is canceled at 78th Street Heritage Farm due to COVID-19 precautions. It is tentatively rescheduled for late summer, contingent upon the social distancing requirements. It is hoped to hold a fall plant sale on Sept. 12 and information will be updated on the website as more details become available  mgfcc.com.  Of course, the September sale will not be able to offer spring vegetable plants or annual flowers, but it will be a great time to shop and plant perennials as well as trees, houseplants and shrubs. Fall vegetable plants may also be available.
• The Senior Prom scheduled for May 1 has been canceled.

POSTPONED: 

• Friends of Fort Vancouver Sweetheart Hangar Dance: The fourth annual dance, to be held at Pearson Air Museum’s historic hangar, has been rescheduled for May 30. The dance, which will now take place from 7 to 10 p.m., with a complimentary swing dance lesson at 6 p.m., May 30, will feature live 1940s “big band” style music provided by VanPort Jazz. Tickets cost $30 in advance or $35 the door (if the event does not sell out) and will benefit the Friends of Fort Vancouver. For more information, visit friendsfortvancouver.org.
• Fort Vancouver National Historic Site: A free “As the River Changed” workshop and walking tour through Fort Vancouver National Historic Site has been postponed and will be rescheduled at a later date.
• The Port of Vancouver USA is postponing two April public events in response to statewide mandates that ban events and large gatherings. State and local leaders are urging people to stay at home and practice social distancing to limit possible exposure to the COVID-19 virus.
  • The port will postpone its public tour scheduled for Saturday, April 25, 10 a.m.-12 noon

OTHER:

• The City of Vancouver’s Community and Economic Development Department has temporarily reduced most of its commercial and residential construction inspection services in compliance with Washington Governor Jay Inslee’s “Stay Home Stay Healthy” proclamation in response to the COVID-19 outbreak.

CLARK COUNTY          

CLOSED:

• Clark County Public Health: The county’s public health office, which includes vital records such as birth and death certificates; environmental public health office, which includes permits and plan reviews; and the county’s food worker testing site have all closed to the public and will operate virtually in response to the virus. The closures will be re-evaluated by April 13 to determine a reopening date. For those who do not have access to the internet or need further assistance, call 564-397-8000.
• Legacy Health: To protect patients, staff, and the public, Legacy Health has closed its cafeterias, waiting rooms and indoor/outdoor meeting spaces to the general public (anyone not accompanying a patient) until further notice. There are a few exceptions to the COVID-19 visitor guidelines; people are encouraged to go to Legacyhealth.org for detailed information.
• Luke Jensen Sports Park: Clark County Public Works has closed the park to all public events and activities. Private rentals scheduled to take place during the closure are canceled and will be fully refunded. 
• Clark County Public Works: The Public Service Center’s front desk reception area and  fourth-floor reception area are closed. Regular drop-in customers for the Public Works’ survey department can call 564-397-4228 or email surveyreview@clark.wa.gov to arrange drop-off or pick-up of survey-related documents.
• Clark County Public Works volunteer events: The following events have been canceled until further notice:  VolunTOUR at CASEE Center with Master Composter Recyclers (April 23); Whipple Creek Park trail maintenance with the Whipple Creek Restoration Committee (April 18); and SOLVE It for Earth Day (April 18). 
• Clark County Permit Center: The permit center’s lobby is closed. Permit Center staff currently is working on a way to use digital submittals as a way to keep business and permit processes moving during the time of closure. People are encouraged to make payments online and check their online accounts for permit progress. This closure is only for the Permit Center at this time, building inspections will continue as normal until further notice.
• Kaiser Permanente clinics: Kaiser Permanente has temporarily closed its Mill Plain One, Orchards and Battle Ground clinics to prepare for a surge of COVID-19 patients in the Portland metro area. All urgent care services remain open. Kaiser is consolidating to fewer clinics as some appointments are postponed or shifted to virtual visits, according to a Kaiser press release.
• Clark County Historical Museum: The museum is closed. For more information, contact the museum at 360-993-5679 or outreach@cchmuseum.org.
• Clark County auto license: In-person services are closed through April 13. Auto license staff will continue to process mail-in and online renewals to be mailed to customers. • Evergreen Habitat for Humanity: Habitat is closed its construction site and office to volunteers, and will re-evaluate the situation at that time. 
• North Clark Historical Museum: The museum, located in Amboy, Washington, is closed until further notice. 
• Clark County Law Library is closed through April 27, and may be closed longer if needed. Staff will be providing as much remote reference service as possible, and people who need to use the library are asked to email lawlibrary@clark.wa.gov or leave a message by calling 564-397-2268. Staff will return emails and phone calls during the library’s regular business hours: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Callers and emailers should state the type of assistance they are seeking and provide contact information.
• Clark County Community Planning is suspending in-person meetings related to the commissions and committees. New information to the county web pages will be added the staff work through these changes in how the public can best served safely and smartly. Emails will continue to be sent out regarding news and updates. If you would like to stay informed on a particular commission, committee or project, register to receive project updates. This includes the following:

  • Buildable Lands Project Advisory Committee
  • Commission on Aging
  • Historic Preservation Commission
  • Planning Commission
  • Schools Advisory Committee

CANCELED: 

• Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the Community Foundation for Southwest Washington has canceled its 2020 Annual Luncheon. The event was scheduled for Tuesday, June 2, at The Hilton Vancouver, Washington.

POSTPONED: 

• Clark County Quilters: The group has rescheduled its annual quilt show to Nov. 12-14. More information can be found on clarkcountyquilters.com.
