The holiday season may look a little different this year during the COVID-19 pandemic, with the cancellation of events like Camas’ traditional Hometown Holidays and Washougal’s Lighted Christmas Parade, but there are still plenty of season’s greetings to be found in the cities’ downtown shopping districts.
Last weekend, Santa showed up in downtown Washougal to greet families at a drive-thru holiday event. Washougal Mayor Molly Coston was on hand, too, and was overheard asking Santa for world peace and good health this year.
In downtown Camas, a giant lighted tree illluminates the businesses near the Liberty Theatre, and business owners have been busy decorating their shop windows with decorated trees, elves, gnomes, ornaments and packages to help make the season bright.
The Downtown Camas Association, downtown Camas merchants and Camas Parks and Recreation Department have teamed up this year to create a new Winter Wonderland celebration in the city’s historic downtown, through Saturday, Dec. 12.
