Edward ‘Ed’ Carlos Tandberg
October 19, 1943 ~ December 20, 2018
Edward “Ed” Carlos Tandberg, age 75, died of heart disease and recently diagnosed lung cancer on December 20th, 2018, in Vancouver, Washington.
He was born on October 19, 1943, in Noonan, North Dakota, to parents, Carl “Erling” and Hazel Tandberg. He moved with his family to the Vancouver area in the mid-40s and graduated from Battle Ground High School. Ed served in the Army National Guard for five years, Honorably Discharged as Sergeant.
As a youth, Ed had a fourteen-mile daily rural paper route with The Columbian newspaper, and worked with his dad on a small dairy farm in Brush Prairie.
Ed’s carpentry career spanned over fifty years, beginning when he was seven, pulling nails from recycled boards for a house his parents built in the Vancouver Burton area. After Carpenter Apprentice School, he formed a framing partnership with his cousin, Monte Walseth, T & W Framers. In the 1970’s, he was self-employed as a Home Builder Contractor, and a craftsman proud of his work. He also built in-ground Hallmark Pools, and worked at Transamerica Intermodal Maintenance. The last 29 years of Ed’s career was spent working at Bonneville Power Administration doing Carpentry Construction in the western states. He retired as Carpenter Foreman III in December 2012.
Ed built his family home forty years ago on Mt. Norway in Washougal, Washington. He enjoyed working on various projects around his home throughout the years.
