A Camas doctor died on Thursday, Nov. 8, after crashing his bicycle into the side of a home off Northwest Sierra Drive in Camas.

Camas police said Michael Myers, 51, was riding his bike down a steep, twisting part of Sierra Drive before the crash. There were no witnesses to the crash, but police are calling Myers’ death an accident, and said they do not believe a vehicle was involved.

Myers was reported missing around 4:30 p.m., on Nov. 8. Police located his body at the 4200 block of Northwest Sierra Drive around 8 p.m. that evening.

Myers, a married father of two sons, had worked as a radiation oncologist at PeaceHealth in Vancouver, where he specialized in treating breast, prostate, lung and central nervous system cancers. He also worked as a remote associate professor at Virginia Commonwealth University.

According to The Tri-City Herald newspaper, Myers was wrapping up his practice at PeaceHealth and had returned to work as a radiation oncologist at the Tri-Cities Cancer Center in Kennewick, Washington, just three days before his accident.
