Washougal Festival of Trees seeks volunteers
Although there are more than 280 shopping days remaining before Christmas, Washougal Festival of the Trees organizers are already planning the event and seeking volunteers.
The eighth annual festival will be held Dec. 1 and 2 at Hathaway Elementary School.
The holiday event, presented by the Washougal Lions Foundation, features decorated Christmas trees created by school and community groups, to be auctioned off to the highest bidders.
“The Festival will build on the success of the 2016 event which raised a record $20,000 for the Washougal schools” said Chuck Carpenter, festival co-chair. “We attribute this success to the great business support in the form of sponsorships and merchandise contributions; the collaborative effort of many individuals, school parent groups, churches and organizations who decorated trees, and the hard work of the festival committee.”
The organization is currently seeking volunteers, for planning and help at the event. Those interested can contact Carpenter at washougalchuck@gmail.com.
