Emergency crews responded to Advanced Drainage Systems Inc. (ADS), in Washougal, after an explosion occurred Friday, July 28, at about 8 p.m.

ADS is located at 627 S. 37th St., in the Port of Camas-Washougal Industrial Park.

Port of C-W Executive Director David Ripp said no buildings were involved.

“It is ADS’s storage yard for their pipe,” he said.

A second alarm was called off as a total of eight engines responded from the Camas-Washougal Fire Department (CWFD), the Vancouver Fire Department and East County Fire and Rescue.

The fire was reported to be in the vicinity of South 35th and Index streets.

CWFD Fire Chief Nick Swinhart said the first arriving crews found a large commercial fire burning through a storage yard of plastic drain/irrigation pipe.

Swinhart said the fire was quickly confined to the area of origin and was extinguished by 9 p.m. There were no injuries.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time and will be investigated by the CWFD Fire Marshal’s Office.

The estimated amount of damage is not yet known.

The ADS plant that manufactures corrugated drainpipe has been located in the Port of C-W Industrial Park since 1978.
