Snow and a lack of fire hydrants caused problems for emergency crews called to the scene of a house fire this morning.

According to a press release from the Camas-Washougal Fire Department, the blaze was reported at 5:36 a.m. at the 30000 block of Northeast 10th Street, in Washougal.

When emergency crews arrived, the single-family house was already fully involved in fire. Its five residents were standing outside, unharmed.

Firefighters worked to contain the blaze, and keep flames from spreading to surrounding property.

The American Red Cross is providing assistance to the displaced residents of the house. The structure is considered a total loss.

In addition to CWFD, other agencies that responded to the scene included East County Fire and Rescue, Vancouver Fire Department and Clark County Fire District 3

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Clark County Fire Marshal’s Office.
