The Camas and Washougal school districts joined most others around Clark County today as they announced schools would be closed on Thursday, Jan. 12.
The third day of canceled classes this week comes after one of the biggest snow storms in several years hit the Portland and Greater Vancouver areas hard on Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning.
Up to 10 inches of snow fell in some of the higher elevation areas. On Wednesday night, many side streets remain covered in snow and ice, and they will stay that way thanks to temperatures that are not expected to get too far above freezing.
Thursday will mark the seventh snow day for Camas and Washougal students since early December. Those missed days will be made up later in the school year.
