New and returning Washougal School District School Board members were sworn-in to service at the Dec. 12 board meeting after winning their general election on Nov. 7.
Donna Sinclair has been chosen as the newest member to the WSD Board to represent District 3. Sinclair is a history professor at Washington State University Vancouver who earned her master’s degree in history and her Ph.D in urban studies.
“I am honored that the citizens of Washougal have elected me to serve on our community’s school board,” Sinclair said. “Educating children through public schools is among the most important responsibilities we have as a society. I am thrilled to participate at this level and can’t wait to join the caring team of district employees, teachers, and board members to do my part in sustaining and improving Washougal schools.”
Re-elected to the board are Board President Ron Dinius (District 5) and member Cory Chase (District 4). Dinius, an 11-year veteran of the board, will serve another four years with his term expiring in 2021. Chase was appointed to a vacancy mid-term in late 2016 and was required to run for that seat at election time. He will continue his term, which is set to expire in 2019.
Rounding out the WSD Board are Teresa Lees (District 1) and Elaine Pfeifer (District 2).
