The Skamania County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Portland man in connection with the homicide that occurred at the Dougan Falls recreation area on Saturday.

Benjamin C. Serrato, 40, has been booked into the Skamania County jail on suspicion of first-degree murder. He was arrested Wednesday, just after noon.

The Sheriff’s Office said Serrato is a known associate of the victim, Christopher M. Libert, also of Portland.

Libert, 40, was discovered Saturday morning. The Skamania County 911 center received a call at approximately 9:10 a.m.

The caller reported there was a body over the embankment near the Dougan Falls Bridge. Deputies responded and located Libert.

An autopsy, conducted by the Clark County Medical Examiner on Sunday, revealed Libert died as a result of stab and gunshot wounds.

Dougan Falls is located approximately 17 miles northeast of Washougal.
