Washougal foreign exchange student Soeren Serve will take his love for tennis to state this spring.
The 16-year-old from Denmark finished in second place at the 2A district tournament Friday and Saturday, at the Mint Valley Racquet Club, in Longview.
Serve defeated Tumwater’s Cade Williams 6-4, 6-0 in the quarterfinals and Gunnar Nelson, of Black Hills, 5-7, 6-3, 6-0 in the semifinals to advance to the championship match.
R.A. Long’s Eric Grimes beat Serve 6-2, 6-3 in the finals.
Washougal doubles partners Scott Anderson and Jalen Watts reached the consolation semifinals at districts.
