The Washougal School Board approved several construction documents for the new Jemtegaard Middle School and Columbia River Gorge Elementary School this morning.

An amended $8.4 million contract between the district and Todd Construction, of Tigard, Oregon, includes the cost for miscellaneous items at the new schools. The total project cost is approximately $47 million.

The board also approved a recommendation to accept the new projects review report and implementation plans, and signed an intent to construct project.

“All projects from the bond are underway, and now we have signed final approval for the middle school,” said Ron Dinius, board chairman. “We’re on time and on budget, and it feels good.”

The projects are part of a $57.68 million capital bond, approved by voters in February 2015. Construction on a new $2.3 million transportation facility and $4.8 Excelsior High School began in June.

Other bond projects include $1.2 million in safety and security improvements, and $1.6 million in roof and HVAC improvements. All projects are expected to be complete by August 2018. For more information on bond construction, visit www.washougal.k12.wa.us/bond-project-updates/.
