After initially announcing a two hour late start, Washougal School District and Mt. Pleasant School District officials have decided to close schools on Tuesday, Jan. 5, due to changing weather conditions.
This is the second day that classes have been canceled due to inclement weather. Students were scheduled to return on Monday after a two-week winter break.
Classes in Camas will still begin two hours late. Buses are on normal routes, but students and parents should allow for possible delays. There will be no morning preschool, and the extended day program will open at 8:30 a.m.
The National Weather Service has issued a freezing rain advisory for the Portland-Vancouver metro area through 10 a.m. Tuesday. Forecasters are calling for temperatures to increase mid-day, and stay in the mid to upper 30s.
