Roads were treacherous on Friday morning heading into Washougal from Mount Norway. About a half-dozen cars were abandoned on the side of the street near Lawton Road. Conditions improved where 32nd Street meets Lehr Road, and by about 11 a.m. ice had turned to sometimes slippery slush on the major arterials in the city of Washougal.

Icy streets and strong winds have led the Camas and Washougal school districts to cancel classes for the second day in a row.

The national Weather Service in Portland issued a freezing rain advisory through 10 a.m. this morning. The system is expected to continue to bring up to one-tenth of an inch of ice to areas including Camas, Washougal and Vancouver, that are impacted by winds from the Columbia River Gorge.

In addition, an ice storm warning for the West Columbia Gorge through 4 a.m. Saturday. Accumulations of one-half to three quarters of an inch of ice are predicted.
