Karen Rubino is resigning from the Washougal School Board, effective Sept. 27, due to accepting a job in Seattle.
The School District is accepting applications to fill the position, which is Director District 4.
Rubino was elected to the board in 2012.
“It has been a true pleasure to serve and work with an outstanding group of people, including the other board members and district staff,” Rubino said in a resignation letter. “The Washougal School Board is a very effective and caring team and I will greatly miss being a part of it. I look forward to the opening of the new schools and continued student success.”
School Board members are responsible for policy and governance of the district, and for providing direction to the superintendent.
Applicants for the board must be registered voters and reside within district 4. The director will serve until the next regular election, Nov. 17, at which time a successor will be elected for the unexpired term, which ends Dec. 31.
Applications are due Sept. 16 and can be downloaded at www.washougal.k12.wa.us/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/board-application-2016-Dist.4.pdf. For more information about the position and residency requirements, contact Cassi Marshall at 954-3005 or cassi.marshall@washougalsd.org.
