Construction is underway on a new bicycle skills course at Hamllik Park, in Washougal.
The first of three phases of construction in the five-acre park consisting of configuring the log and rock features was completed on Aug. 7.
A total of 40 volunteers turned out for a community work party, Aug. 6 and 7. Four staff members from the City of Washougal were present to oversee the use of the heavy machinery.
Nat Lopes, a contractor from the California company Hilride Progression, managed the work party. Hilride Progression specializes in constructing and maintaining bike parks.
Construction in the park is scheduled to be completely finished in 2018.
Camas Bike & Sport is accepting donations to help fund the project.
